NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope team has released a new downloadable e-book in the Hubble Focus series, called “Hubble Focus: The Dark Universe.” This e-book highlights the mission’s recent discoveries about two mysterious components of our universe, known as dark energy — an unexplained cosmic pressure that’s speeding up the universe’s expansion — and dark matter, an invisible substance detectable only by seeing how it gravitationally influences visible matter.

Hey, Space Placers!
Greetings from Yukon, Oklahoma! Enroute to Albuquerque, NM today.
Yesterday at a Visitor's Center in Arkansas they has eclipse information as Little Rock which is near the location, is in the path of totality, The very nice ladies in the Center said they were going to be at 98%.
They were kind enough to give me two of their state issued eclipse glasses!
Speaking of eclipse, be sure to read this story about how eclipse maps need modifying for the very edges in some place along the path of totality. This is due to a new value for the diameter of the Sun.
On a very somber note I visited the site of the Alfre P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, where 168 innocent people were killed by a domestic terrorist bomb April 19, 1995. It is a quiet, sacred place and shows what hate does and the healing power of love and remembrance.
