One Week to Venus Transit

Hey Space Placers!

NYC was GREAT and I had a grand time seeing the highlights in two jammed packed days of walking, subwaying and sight seeing.

A week from today, June 5-6 - depending which side of the International Date Line you are on - the second planet from the Sun, Venus, will transit or cross the face of the Sun as seen from Earth. This will be the last transit of Venus until December 2117 so everyone alive today won't be then.

Where to see the transit of Venus

Eye safety is the most important consideration in this event: NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN AS EYE DAMAGE WILL RESULT; USE ONLY SAFE AND APPROVED SOLAR FILTERS. See this link for safely viewing the transit:  http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/highlights/Safely-View-the-Upcoming-Eclipse-and-Transit-150863835.html

This link gives you all the information need to know about the transit: http://www.skyandtelescope.com/about/pressreleases/Your-Complete-Go-To-Guide-for-Junes-Transit-of-Venus-155350785.html

I will be providing some Internet sites in the next few days that will be webcasting the transit so if you want to watch on the Internet you can do so.
