UPDATED Sky Guy Viewing ALERT 4-17-13 Antares Launch from VA

Hey Space Placers!

UPDATE: The launch was scrubbed due to a premature separation of an umbilical between the Antares rocket and the launch pad. The next launch attempt will occur no earlier than Friday, April 19.

I will keep everyone updated and you can check for yourself here: http://www.orbital.com/Antares-Cygnus/index.shtml

If you live along the eastern U.S. seaboard near Virginia, you have a chance to see today's planned launch of Orbital Sciences Corporation's (OSC) Antares space commerce rocket from NASA's Wallops Island Launch Facility http://www.nasa.gov/centers/wallops/missions/antares.html.

The launch is scheduled between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. EDT. You can also watch live on NASA TV starting at 4 p.m. EDT. Read More here: http://www.orbital.com/NewsInfo/MissionUpdates/Antares_Test_Flight/

Get updates on the launch time and see where you are in relation to Wallpos using the OSC map above. Find a clear horizon and look towards the direction of Wallops right after launch. You can try getting a picture too.

I'll have more on this tomorrow.
