SPITZER SPACE TELESCOPE IS RETIRED

Hey Space Placers!

The Spitzer Infrared Space Telescope was retired yesterday by NASA following more than 16-years of cutting edge observations.

NASA put the telescope into sleep mode on January 30th in order to make way for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

JWST is currently scheduled for launch in 2021.
