Sunshield Successfully Deploys on NASA’s Next Flagship Telescope

 Hey, Space Placers!

Here is JWST last night at 563,500 miles distant as imaged in my 4.5" f/4 Unistellar telescope.

I was able to image JWST because the tennis court sized 5 layer sunshield is VERY reflective of sunlight.

Just a few minutes ago the JWST Mission Operations Center completed the last step in the full deployment of the sunshield: this was a HUGE step in the mission as it was critical for mission success.

Up next will be the optical deployment process.
