Orion the Hunter is back in the evening sky

 Hey Space Placers!

Orion Rising at Big Meadows, Shenandoah National Park

This is what Orion looks like now in November as he rises.

To me, in the Northern Hemisphere, Orion the Hunter, is the most beautiful and easily recognizable constellation. He is grand in scope, scale and beauty. He also anchors the other winter constellations.

The Hunter is also a treasure trove of binocular and telescopic treasures - bright stars, nebulae - and,  the winter Milky Way flows nearby across the sky.

Orion also marks our neighborhood in the Milky Way Galaxy. It is where our whole solar system resides - the Orion Spur.

Get outside and see the Hunter with your family and friends this week. Orion is visible in cities unless you are in the glare of direct lighting.

Watch as he moves through the sky. Oh, and he is very photogenic with any smartphone or camera.
