If you have ANY interest in the interactions between our star and our planet, this is a MUST READ ARTICLE. It is lengthy, sobering and spot on regarding the threat the Sun poses to our technology and in turn, modern civilization. 

Humans need to do everything possible to properly and continuously monitor our star and the resulting space weather . Technology and our power providing infrastructure are at risk due to solar events that history shows have happened. The Carrington Event was the first to occur, BUT THERE WILL BE MORE IN THE FUTURE.

Monitoring the Sun and mitigating its effects on our technology are critical to our very survival as a functioning civilization.
