PRE-DAWN TUESDAY LUNAR OCCULTATION OF JUPITER!!!!

 Hey, Space Placers!

MUST SEE SKY EVENT.

Got binoculars? A telescope? If you do, haul them out early Tuesday morning to observe the old waning crescent moon occult — block our view — of Jupiter during pre-dawn hours.

Viewing the event with no optical aid, smartphone or camera is also possible as the celestial pair will be bright and easy to spot in the East.

And hallelujah, the weather looks good.

The waning crescent moon will occult Jupiter starting for Washington D.C.at 4:20 a.m. EDT and the giant planet will reappear at 5:24 a.m. Check this website for timing of other cities.

This event is worthy of taking an astropic with your telescope, a smartphone using zoom or a digital camera. It will look great in binoculars too.

A telescope would work best for close up pics but using zoom or telephoto on your smartphone will work too, especially using a tripod or bracing yourself against a building or car to steady your camera. Take multiple pics or even a video of the disappearance and reappearance.

Also look for earthshine on the moon. This too is worthy of taking an astropic with your smartphone or digital camera.

I'll be trying for a video....

Clear skies, all......
